The Picture Gallery
These pages contain the first underwater pictures of
the wooden wreck in Filey Bay conjectured to be that of the Bonhomme Richard.
There are at least three large pieces of wreckage on the site and these
pictures relate to the largest piece, which is the side of a wooden ship laid
with its outside on the seabed.
The pictures are the copyright of John Adams and
thanks are given to the
Filey Bay Initiative who have
provided substantial resources and funding to assist the investigation
into the site and to enable this work to be progressed. The gallery presentation
has been made possible by the Heritage Lottery Funding to the Filey Bay
Initiative.
These two pictures show the ship's
structure on the North East edge of the wreck, looking in a southerly direction
and in the area of the broken metal tube believed to be a hawse pipe.
